The festival machine is taking on an incredible momentum! We have just experienced an incredibly important moment – the official press conference where we met with media representatives to talk about the mission, values, and big plans related to the first edition of the „New Sounds” Festival. If you’re wondering what exactly happened in that flash of light and what we discussed with journalists, we invite you to watch a short report.
We are adding new sounds
On October 20, a press conference took place, the main point of which was to present the idea of our Festival. We emphasized what is at the heart of our project – the desire to inject the iconic hits of previous decades with a completely new, student-driven energy, while at the same time creating a new platform that will allow university students to gain experience in the professional music scene.
Student culture is an important part of the University’s life. It is a space where young people develop sensitivity, seek their own language, and share what is important to them. We want this Festival to give them the freedom to interpret creatively and the opportunity to encounter tradition on their own terms. It is thanks to such encounters that old songs can gain new meanings and appeal to new audiences.
said Her Magnificence the Rector of the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Prof. Dr. hab. Bogumiła Kaniewska.
Science and innovation support culture
The festival is created by the Adam Mickiewicz University and the Poznań Science and Technology Park. Both institutions are dedicated to their main missions, namely science and innovation. UAM brings experience in educating and supporting the development of young people, while PPNT – in building partnerships and turning ideas into concrete projects. Together, they stand shoulder to shoulder to create the right conditions for finding new talents, gaining stage experience, and at the same time paying tribute to the iconic artists and their work, which decades ago created the student culture.
We want to give young performers the opportunity to develop their skills and present themselves to a wider audience. This is another way for us to support creativity and build collaboration, which results in concrete opportunities for development for young people.
said Prof. Hieronim Maciejewski – President of the UAM Foundation and Director of the Poznań Science and Technology Park.
Our mission: we combine tradition with modernity
We realize that student culture has evolved and is constantly changing. Our concept stems from the premise that we can combine tradition with modernity. With the help of a new generation of students, we will be able to create a fusion that will allow for a modern interpretation of works from several decades ago that is different from the original. It is this new energy and perspective that will ensure that classic examples of student culture continue to have meaning, only in a different tone or sound.
